June 4th again
On June 4th, 1989,
Democratic movement in Tienanmen Square was swept away
by force of the People's Republic Army.
(Please refer to this link.)
The event has been a taboo in mainland though,
June 4th is one of the most significant days
for Hong Kong people.
The candlelight vigil is held in Victoria Park every year.
People got together with candles in their hands,
to commemorate the victims
and not to forget the democratic movement.
The theme of this year's vigil is
"Reassessment of Tienanmen massacre,
support democracy, freedom, human rights and rule of law"
The organizer annaunced that 44,000 people joined the vigil.
(Police annaunced 19,000 people did.)
This was my second time to join.
I felt like crying because of HK people's eagerness
toward democracy both in mainland and HK,
when I saw this lots of people and heard they sung.
It has been said that the memory of the event is fading
among people though, I don't think so.
Many people got together with their family
and students who were not born at that time took part in.
Democracy is something that HK people cannot give in,
as their rights.
